When you are setting up your artwork in a gallery, how would you like to…

  • try out different arrangements of your pieces?
  • try out different lighting?

This is the kind of thing that we can use software to help. We call it “previsualization.” It is a computer generated demonstration of an object that will later be created in the real world. It has the same rules as the real world, but it costs less to make than building the real thing.

But software is rarely easy. It would be a lot easier if you had someone to guide you.

Two people on either side of a computer monitor. One with artist's brush in hand, looking confused. The other with an open hand toward the screen, talking.

That’s where we can help.

As a game developer for thirty years, I’ve interacted with a lot of artists. If I were to generalize with broad strokes, artists think in pictures. However technology tends to be a lot of words.

We are here to explain what this technology can do and then help you make it happen.

Codevelopment

One thing that makes game development different from most software is that we have to “find the fun.” We start with an idea for how a game should feel. We make a prototype of that idea - a bare minimum version to gauge how fun it is. If it isn’t fun, often we have to start over.

This principle can also apply to art. Sometimes you must “trust the process,” but other times you need to “see where this leads.” This is the opposite of a typical consulting contract, which assumes the final project is known from day one.

This is why all our contracts are setup as Time & Materials. You get a consistent hourly rate for our services. You decide how much (or how little) of our services you need. If you choose to go a different direction, we follow wherever the rabbit hole goes. We won’t lock you into a path that isn’t working.

Collaboration

We want to see you succeed. Not a consultant. Not a cash-grab.

Too often you hear about consultants being brought on to fix a specific task. They do that task, without regard to how it fits into the rest of the project. Worse, they will use a technology or design that is hard for anyone but them to understand, just so they keep the contract.

We are different. We are here for your support. We believe that you have the right to repair your own tools, and that includes what we make for you. Everything is designed and documented so that you can fix it yourself.
