Strange Aeons

There really is something to be said about reinventing the wheel.

It seems that every time a new game engine is created, it’s just recreating the same basic code that all the other engines already do. However, in my current project, it’s not a FPS, nor anything using fast camera movement most of the time.

A new engine was needed, one designed for a mostly static, but highly detailed scene. And it’s working out well. Normal game engines do not need to do mouse picking that converts to texture UV coordinates. I’m guessing that would have been a *severe* pain with someone else’s engine.

This Side Toward Enemy

I hate political debates for president. I’ve seen two Democratic and one Republican this year already.

They’re all trying to make complex issues into black and white. Won’t listen to each other. Just want to bash Bush (Democrats) rather than actually fix anything.

I know (so far) who I’ll be voting for, and the debates really have helped to shape that. It’s not what they’re saying. You can tell which ones actually know what they’re talking about. There aren’t many.

Dell annoys me.

My brother bought a new dell lappy. Nice machine.

Vista came preinstalled. That’s OK. Wanted to downgrade to XP until Vista was ready. XP is listed as an available option when we bought the machine. But now, you can’t get the XP drivers from their website! How does that make sense?

Finally gave in. Vista. My brother’s gonna be annoyed. More importantly:
*I don’t like to lose.*

nice night

Warm, but not hot; breezy; mild; clear.

You’re driving down a dark highway and you can see everything at once – road, with it’s white dotted lines curving into the distance; green turnoff signs; headlights on the other side. See everything and nothing – not focused on anything, but seeing the whole picture. Almost disconnected from it, but still vaguely aware.

A most beautiful night.
